Firm Profile

In the fall of 2000, Sam Harvey, John Davis, and Mary Herrmann formed Harvey Investment Company, LLC to provide investors a unique choice in a bewildering landscape of investment possibilities. Many years of experience in the financial services industry convinced us that an organization clearly focused on its essential purpose is rare indeed. In our view, even the best institutions are often plagued by competing agendas that sap energy and creativity that should be directed toward solving problems and building wealth for their clients. Harvey Investment Company, LLC was structured to allow a single-minded focus on its investment product and services. This structure was attributable, in large part, to our affiliation with WealthTrust, Inc., a Nashville based network of locally managed, fee-based investment advisory companies. From our inception, this affiliation strengthened us by providing resources in the areas of compliance, technology, back-office support, and client services.

In October of 2001, our first anniversary, Paul Stropkay, CFA joined the company, adding depth to the organization in several areas. With stability in all functional areas, the principals of Harvey Investment Company are free to concentrate their full creativity on delivering unique and extraordinary service.

Harvey Investment Company has two fundamental missions:

  • We believe there is an investment discipline which, executed properly, gives the investor the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of stock ownership while meaningfully reducing the risk of substantial, permanent loss of capital. We have practiced this approach for two decades and have observed its successful application by like-minded investment professionals, as well. We have seen it yield highly satisfactory results and feel strongly that such a choice should be available to individuals and institutions in our community. We provide it.

  • We offer a deeper involvement with our clients and a higher degree of service than can be provided by larger organizations. In addition to delivering investment advice, we help our clients solve their planning and administrative problems. Our extensive knowledge and experience enable us to provide clients with objective advice about other services they may need. We enjoy our relatively small size and our specialized capabilities that enable us to achieve our second primary mission — to be our clients' best "business friend".

We are pleased that the relevance of our purpose has been validated by the number of individual and institutional investors engaging our services.
